Air
Monitoring Services
Medical
facilities, industry, and universities use a vast array of chemicals and
gases in their daily operations. Many of these chemicals have established
exposure levels under OSHA,
NIOSH,
and ACGIH. The OSHA
general duty requires employers to maximize the health and safety of their
employees. In many situations where potential chemical exposures exist,
air monitoring is the easiest way to document exposure levels and determine
ventilation control, work practice, and administrative procedure that
can keep their levels as low as possible. ENV, under the direction of
their CIH, offers a variety of air monitoring programs to clients which
include hospitals (formaldehyde, xylene, EtO, glutaraldehyde, and anesthetic
gases) and industry (welding fumes, oil mist, organics). ENV offers exposure
documentation and employee comfort through their comprehensive air monitoring
programs.
EO Emission Control Devices
A Sterile Processing Department of a hospital may contain one or more
ethylene oxide (EO) sterilizers and aerators. They may also have related
emission control devices, which reduce associated environmental health
risks as defined by the EPA.
Efficiency testing is recommended by manufacturers
upon installation of the EO emission control device, and regularly thereafter,
so that the levels of EO emitted to the environment are maintained within
manufacturer specifications and/or permit limitations.
ENV provides this efficiency testing of EO emission
control devices.
