HYDROGEN PEROXIDE DECONTAMINATION
The Technology
Hydrogen Peroxide Vapor (HPV) is rapid, residue free and fast becoming the bio-decontaminant of choice in the laboratory and pharmaceutical sectors.
HPV is environmentally friendly, decomposing to oxygen and water, and is highly effective against spore forming bacteria, viruses, fungi and mold. It is compatible with materials normally used in aseptic processing and laboratory applications.
The HPV generator used by ENV is engineered to gas the equipment or room at negative pressure. If the equipment were to leak, no peroxide would escape into the room. The unit has an internal catalyst for neutralization, thus no other equipment is required for neutralization.
Advantages of HPV:
- Can operate at low temperatures
- Maintaining proper humidity levels is not as critical as with formaldehyde and CD
- Is residue free
- Has fast “kill” times
- Is a fully validated technology
- Personal exposure limits are 10 times greater than alternative decontamination methods
Applications:
Some of the ideal applications for utilizing HPV technology are:
- Biological Safety Cabinets
- CO2 Incubators
- Isolators
- Filling Lines
- Freezers/refrigerators
- Lock Chambers
- Pass Through Hatches
- Freeze Dryers
- BSL-3 and BSL-4 Laboratories
- Cleanrooms
- TAP units
- Animal Racks
